Compensation Saga

Featured Replies

As I've mentioned before, we're meant to be getting compensation for the late delivery of our Scout that we got in September last year.

Our salesman recently told us that he'd been told by Skoda UK that he'd taken too long submitting the claim, so they'd no longer honour it. He offered us some accessories of a lower value, that we didn't want anyway.

Then he told us that he thought he had submitted the claim in time, but Skoda UK had lost it.

I contacted Skoda Customer Services, who said that they'd confirmed the "goodwill gesture", and the dealer should be in touch.

I told the salesman this... and he's still saying that Skoda won't pay out because he was late getting the claim in. He's now offering to get us the £150 M&S vouchers that we thought we were going to get anyway, or the first service free of charge. (Anybody know how much that's worth?)

I've sent him the emails that I've received from Skoda, and asked if he can explain the apparent discrepancy between what he's told us and what Skoda's told us.

Has anybody else had a similar experience?

Once we've got the compensation (one way or another), I think there'll be a snotty letter going to Skoda UK and the managing director of the dealership to explain our dissatisfaction with the whole process, and we'll be looking for somewhere different to get any warranty work and servicing done in the future.

Have you already got the car? Maybe the dealer is trying to pocket the compo?

Yes, we got the car in September last year. I can think of much easier ways of getting £150 of M&S vouchers than trying to give us the run-around...

Go on... name'n'shame!

I intend to, once we've got a resolution one way or the other... I think the dealer in question has been mentioned before, and not favourably either.
