Hanging revs on a 2.0 tfsi vrs

Featured Replies

The revs take a while to settle back down when revved and in neutral, does anyone have a similar issue. It's not causing a particular problem when driving but been doing it a while now.

Cheers

Mark.

i had some similar at idle on my vrs, i put in shell vpower and the problem never came back so put it down to using 95ron rather than 99ron so never put anything else in since i purchased it 9mnths ago and now its all good. this might not fix yours but a tank of shell vpower aint to much or just tesco super unleaded is meant to be ok but never tried it.

Stay away from Tesco 99 it makes my car misfire, only V-Power will do

Will give it a go. Cheers.

Have tried 99ron, didn't seem much better or worse than 97 Ron. But the missis runs the car at the mo and the best it gets is sainsbos 95ron.

Mrs runs ours on bloody 95 annoys with much greatness lol.

So full tank of vpower last night and a millers power shot for good measure

I find my car runs better on Momentum 99 than V power. I get more mpg and the car feels more eager than when I use V power. My car has never misfired on momentum, but then Im not runnng 350bhp either.....yet!

I don't like Tesco 99 Ron either, I can never tell much difference between any of their petrol. V power always gives a stronger kick in the back.

I had a similar problem 2 years ago. Garage cleaned out the throttle control body and it has been fine ever since. I use Momentum or V-power and it works fine with both, It feels more responsive than when using regular fuel. Not sure about the mpg claims, but given I do less than 10k pa the extra cost of super is relativity small.

OP I would suggest you take it to a garage as it will probably have logged an error code or two.

Will take it in for a code read when I get it back from the painters. Mrs redocty used the gate post to direct herself into the drive. Big scuff. £80 notes for a bumper spray. that is now both ends scuffed.

It's the reason she can't have a bigger car.

I'd agree. Tesco is my only easy option for super. That momentum stuff is crap compared to V-power to the point I suspect they just put normal 95 in the momentum pumps.

If you don't want to pay for super I've found Shell's standard petrol to be petty reasonable. Supermarket 95 is not good at all imho.

Hanging on to revs, is there an air / vacuum leak? To increase revs, you need a source of extra air, overfuelling alone won't do it. Could be throttle as above though, that's common too.
