Thoughts on this VRS please - Newb alert

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm after a VRS and I just missed out on an SE yesterday :(

I've thought that as I'm 19 I should maybe go a bit cheaper (6k budget) and save the money, possibly get a remap etc.

I've seen this car but wanted your oppinions:

Thanks

Have you factored insurance in to your budget and got some quotes yet? I reckon a remapped VRS for a 19yo is going to cost a fair bit!!

As for the car mentioned above it's not too bad, but I think you may be able to get lower miles for the same money. Don't be swayed by the fact that it has cruise as that's cheap to add anyway (and personally I think cruise is useless in today's traffic), things like xenons and leather are the more expensive additions so finding one with either or both of those would be a great start. Check on whether the cambelt has been done too, and if not keep £300 or so aside for that as well.

Insurance for it standard is £1900, which I don't mind paying as it's my car for travelling to uni dailly.

Is it much more remapped?

By the way the 6k is for the car, I have 2k on the side for the insurance.

As a cash buyer you should be looking at at least £500 off of that price.Take a mean haggler with you.

im in a similar position mate, looking to get a vrs in the next couple of months. im 20 and for a standard vrs im gettin quotes of around £880.16 with the next cheapest one at £1089.17 when i mentioned a remap it increased by nearly £300 due to the big increase in power. Thats with 3yrs no claims.

Hi mate im in a similiar situation as you, im planning on buying a vrs in the coming weeks, and im 19 like yourself, what insurance company are you with if you dont mind me asking..

Book price for that will be less than 5 grand. Get a glasses guide valuation. Fords of Winsford would probably offer about £3,500 as a p/x valuation for this car.

My insurance is £1913 fully comp with 2 years no claims guys. I'm with Admiral on a multicar policy, we did have 3 cars on the policy but my Dad recently acquired a company car so now we only have 2 on the policy.

This is irrelevent dude as I am now the proud owner of an SE VRS

Absolutely made up, cannot wait to collect it, had to travel nearly 5 hours to see it mind you!

Cheers for the advice by the way
