Packing to full potential.

Featured Replies

Right going up to see the parents with the new baby in the fabia, the trouble is the amount of stuff that I need to take is it going to fit?? Is there any packaging tips or ideas that will help bearing in mind the baby is in the back seat?

Pack it in and see if it fits? If not move stuff around untill it does? :wonder:

I mean are there any sort of bars you can put across the back seat like a dog guard or any other "good" ideas. This would be a pointless post if I hadn't tried to fit the stuff in now wouldn't it?!

The dog guard thing sounds like a good idea I know what you mean with the amount of stuff you haveto take and the limited amount of boot space the only thing I could recommend would be to strap the pushchair into the spare seat just put some black bags over thewheels etc to keep the car clean also put the travel cot if your taking that aswell along the floor that will be kept in place by your seats and if you put the parcel shelf against the headrests means you will be able to load to the top without rusk of anything coming over the top failing that head down to halfords or somewhere and get a roof rack strap your suitcases on

If the baby is 'new' and in a carry cot, does this use both diagonal seat belts to hold it? If not take out the smaller seat back and squab; it's amazing how much extra room you get. If in a super recliner type baby seat you can probably just use the smaller seat and remove the larger. Leave out the parcel shelf. If in carry cot, probably good idea to use a 'dog guard' (or ply sheet) behind cot to stop anything being thrown onto baby in emergency stop. Extra internal mirror to check on baby is useful.

Probably not the best idea but you can remove the spare wheel & utilise the space there.

Just make sure you have roadside cover & a can of tyre weld.

Couple of good ideas already for utilizing space, removing unused seats, parcel shelf and rearranging items until they fit in a jigsaw fashion will all help to ensure that there is no wasted space. Remember you can get roof boxes for extra storage as well.

Also have another look at what your planning to take, be strict and and reduce it to the essentials.

Failing that you could always look into borrowing or renting a bigger car or van.
