Not particularly new, but....

I've been on here for ages, previously as a Leon Cupra TDI driver taking advantage of all the generic VAG knowledge on here, but now I'm a "proper" member of Briskoda with a Skoda of my own, a hybrid Fabia vRS collected yesterday from Manchester. So far I'm loving it, whether it's just the fact it's a smaller car or the fact it already has some handling mods, it's like a go-kart compared to my bulky Leon so driving is awesome fun again!

welcome and did you buy the yellow one??

Yup, the one Awesome have advertised here and over on SeatCupra.net :)

ah ha nice, be good to get it on some independant rollers as noone on here belives the kind of torque its pushing out from its turbo setup, 440llb/ft isnt it, nice car though in the yellow with black roof. personaally i would put the standard wing mirrors back on then sorted lol

Yeah, I'm tempted to get it rolled locally at some point but I'm a bit broke having just bought it. It peaks at 440, but holds more like 400 across the power band. Certainly feels a LOT more than my remapped Leon on the old butt dyno! I have the standard wing mirrors for it, which I think I'm going to get painted black (as I love the colour scheme) and then refit, the DTMs look OK from the outside IMO but they're tricky to see anything in when you're on motorways and used to full sized mirrors.

yeah i had dtms on my old octy for all off two days before i got fed up of not seeing anything lol, and to match the roof will look good, good luck

Hi and welcome aboard.

Well, mods number 1 and 2 complete; new pollen filter to replace the grey one full of leaves that was stopping any airflow on the way home, and a couple of VCDS tweaks for the auto-locking, alarm chirp, and selective unlocking I've got used to on my Leon. Tried to adjust the steering weight following the advice on fabia-vrs.com but it doesn't seem to feel any different, and I've read on here that it may not work the same as the Mk4 Ibiza (which I think my instructions were originally from) so I'll probably reset that one just in case...

I was thinking about this again last night, there's a place not too far from my home/work which use Dyno Dynamics rollers, am I right in thinking these have the best reputation for being accurate? I might get it booked in there when I have a few spare shekels and see what it's doing...

Hello and Welcome to Briskoda Gavin

I was thinking about this again last night, there's a place not too far from my home/work which use Dyno Dynamics rollers, am I right in thinking these have the best reputation for being accurate? I might get it booked in there when I have a few spare shekels and see what it's doing...

tbh if it was my car id want to check it wasnt running that torque as bits will start failing running that high, might just be awesomes rollers are abit generous, there all different, ive used dyno dynamics rollers before an they have been pretty good

I'm not too concerned about failures at the moment, the car's covered enough miles on the current setup that I'm happy it's reliable (I'd have been wary about buying if the work was only done very recently and not been driven much, for example). The only part that concerns me a bit is the clutch, it's the same item I had on my Leon which I was told was only rated to 400lb/ft, but Al says there's been no problems with it. Since the peak of the torque is quite low and it soon evens out to 400, I just don't put my foot to the floor straight away and shouldn't see any problems there for a while.

But yeah, bit broke at the moment what with buying that and juggling monies around with the sale of the Leon, but once I've got £50 spare (or if there's a localish RR day on a Dyno Dynamics road) I'll see about getting it booked in and we'll see what's what.

Welcome to Briskoda, you got yourself a good car with some expensive modifications,

Cheers guys, and yeah there's a fair amount of kit in there. Still very pleased with it so far, it's so much fun somehow compared to the bigger, softer Leon I had before!
