Filler Advice

Featured Replies

Having never done a body modification/repair before I'm in uncharted territory right now and could do with some help.

My second set of 16" spiders have massivly damaged scrapd and gouged face so need some serious filling before I can sand them flat and begin the refurb process proper.

I ebay'd "alloy wheel filler" and it brought up this at a reasonable price and seems to be a good idea as it has aluminium content as well as the standard polyester.

Now it's made by a Greek company and having come from eBay there's a shortage of info and the tin has arrived with instruction on the side in GR = Greek, RUS = Russian, BG = Bulgarian?, and YU = no freaking idea!

The tin is 250g and it's come with an 8g tube of hardener.

My question is what ratio should i be mixing it in?

Is 8g hardener enough for all 250gm of filler?

Or is the 8g a starter tube and you have to buy more should you need to?

I definitely don't want to use too much, nor do I want to throw any away, but i definitely don't want to be repairing the wheels with filler of the wrong consistency.

HELP!

ratio is roughly a golf ball size of filler to a pea size of hardener, if you stick to that ratio then you won't go wrong, if you use to much hardener it isn't the end of the world, it just dries quicker and more tubes of hardener can be bought from halfords for less than a fiver

lol, I can get you a Greek translation if you need it. Would need a pretty good photo of the Greek writing though.

That's good to know I guess 8g probably is enough to do the whole tim of filler then

The tube of hardener actually has it's warnings in English, Greek, Russian and Bulgarian but still no instructions

The instructions I can't read definitely say to do or use something 2-3% then do or leave something for 2-3 minutes, and something else either needs doing or leaving for, or is ready after 20-30 minutes.

I'm assuming 2-3% is possibly the mix ratio, 2-3 minutes the time you have to apply it before it'll go hard and 20-30 minutes time it takes before you should sand it.

Might give HB Body's UK office a call tomorrow and see if they have GB instructions :)
