was in the stealers today for a brake fluid change (potential ammo for ESP failure) and was told there was a "marker out" for a replacement part to be fitted to the cam, rather vague but said they would need it all day, my initial guess which wasn't really confirmed was a cam sensor but half an hour ought to do that, anyone with any ideas? its a 1.8 --cam advance retard mechanism?

A recent recall has been issued, last tow weeks or so, which is affecting the older vehicles and some newer ones. but that is to do with a possible ignition coil fault. As far as I know there is no recall for a cam sensor. I could check myself if you messaged me your full chassis number, and look for outtanding recalls. Apart from that i couldn't comment on their vague description to you, but if they say its a recall then Skoda will pick up the bill for it.
