Cowbells in my exhaust

Cowbells?

Tractor :giggle: defo time for a new pipe

Sounds like it could be the front support on the cat-back system (the one with the two rubber mounts either side).

The first time mine broke off I got it welded back on, but the welds broke off again last month, so now I've put a nice big jubilee clip around the pipe and cradle to hold it together. Seems to have worked.

When it broke off last month it was stupidly loud, and made the car slightly embarrassing to drive! I suspect you have the same problem with that noise!

The standard exhaust has seen better days, although I guess it is 9yrs old now. The cat heat shield is hanging off too, as the two rear bolts have corroded away, and I can't get the front bolts off it due to massive corrosion (a job for the die grinder). I wouldn't be surprised if it was blowing slightly from the back-box too.

What cat-back are you planning Rob? I don't like the oval tailpipes on most of the systems out there, so Piper is the top of my list. I did email Pipe Werx about a custom exhaust, but not heard anything back yet, so maybe they're not interested. Seems to be a recurring theme lately actually. Shark never answer my PM's or posts, and never actually call back when they promise to (4 times now!). Pretty hacked off. Anyway, back on topic....

I'm getting the car on a ramp tomorrow to check the front coilovers so I'll have a good look round the exhaust as well.

I'm thinking Milltek non-resonated. Awesome will deliver to NZ for a reasonable amount and from what I've read it will sound nice without upsetting SWMBO or the baby :)

I really like it, but I coulda used a little more cowbell :giggle: :giggle:

I Dnt mind my oval tailpipe but if I were to do it again I'd fit the twin tailpipe version from milltek if that comes in the non res system?

It's not intrusive at all rob. well my missus and kids have never complained, even with the downpipe/de cat fitted

See if they will slip in a tin of paint with it lol

Rob

The Miltec 2.76" turbo back, twin round resonated system is very good quality and fit.....and the sound is the best I've heard

Down side is the price, mine was over £800.

Bill.

Would that be green hammerite by any chance? :giggle:

Hey bill,

this was the reason I went cat back. Couldn't justify nearly £900 on an exhaust at the time.

iirc the twin tailpipe is now offered in a cat back system I just couldn't remember if it was non resonated or not? I would definately do twin if I were to do it again

Hmm bit steep I think. Though I do prefer the twin pipes.

Hmm, well nothing was loose and no rattles when tapping the exhaust but the wire from one of the O2 sensors was touching a heat shield.

Might be all it was.

Will see in the morning on cold start.
