Anyone had their Tracking done?

Featured Replies

Been driving 12 years now and I've never had to have my tracking done on any of my cars. Is it worth it, best place to get it done?

If tyres wear evenly both sides of car, no need for tracking to be done.

If repairs to steering/ or some parts of suspension are carried out, it would advisable to have tracking checked then.

Most reputable garages would have the necessary equipment, although my local Skoda dealer lets another VAG garage check tracking.

My local independent garage checked tracking when new CV drive gaiter was replaced as a matter of course, and was declared unaffected.

As giandougl said but even if you ain't had any work done your tracking can get knocked out the easy way to tell is when your driving is your steering wheel straight or do you hold it to the left or right to go in a straight line or is there Amy vibration through the steering as above uneven tyre wear us probably on of the best indicators

I had mine done at a place in dudley, west mids called A-line just to make sure as the steering wheel was just off centre. They sorted that and the tracking was fine. They also checked the whole car to see if it had been in an accident and again it come up all fine.

If any work has been done to the suspension/steering components then it is best to have it re-aligned. The roads have been in a poor state recentlty and I'm sure you've hit a pothole or two which can also affect alignment, so yes it is worth having done. Every time I had mine adjusted the car feels to drive straighter and smoother.

How much does it usually cost. Yeah slight wobble esp when pushing national speedlimit, thought that might be down to my current 2mm tread all round

Go to this web site. They are pretty good and have a list of independent specialists...my local that I use on there.

B)

Most garages aroun my area are about £20 for a four wheel laser alignment but some people get it done for around £10 but anymore than £20 I a bit of a rip off

It would be £20 'ish for an alignment check. To adjust things costs extra depending on how long it takes, anything from £20 to £80 in total.
