Columbus HDD missing

Featured Replies

I have just purchased a 58 Reg Octavia which has the Columbus Sat Nav installed. The manual says that there is a HDD but it is greyed out on the unit and the capacity reads as 0GB used, 0GB free. Can anybody tell me if it should be there or was it an extra at time of purchase? The Sat Nav is running off the DVD which means I can't play CD's and get directions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have been sold a pup. What does the seller have to say about it?

The box for the HDD will be greyed out if there is no music on it. Can you get some music on an SD card or CD(as a data disc) and download it onto the HDD, you should then find the box becomes available. The maps should be on the HDD so I'd have a look at the disc and see if you could get an upgraded disc to download.

Thanks for your help I will try tonight and if it doesn't work I will speak to the dealer in the morning.

How do I get hold of an upgrade disc?

I am begining to think the same. I haven't contacted the dealer yet as I wanted to make sure It was meant to have the HDD before I complained.

Have tried putting in a DVD with Mp3's and a SD card and both play but you can't navigate through the files or copy as the unit has a message up constantly saying the CD is loading. The music plays fine in the background so I know that the MP3 are ok. I left the car with the message up for 15 to 20mins and it was still there when I can back.

I will give the dealer a ring tomorrow.

I'm sure there is someone in your area who will lend you their disc or there would be other stockists like uvworldwide.co.uk, they usually have discs in stock.

They are a nice bunch at ALS Lock.

They sold me my new Octy vRS about a month ago - really liked dealing with them.
