Brake Caliper Painting

Featured Replies

Hello,

I want to paint my standard brake calipers as they are getting old and crappy now. However, I want to paint them yellow, instead of the standard green... and need to get all the old paint off.

Anyone got any ideas on the best way to do this? Is it a case of just sanding it off, or will it need more than that?

What paint are you planning on using?

When I painted mine, I used a cominbation of a wire brush, some parafin and wet-and-dry to get a good clean surface, then just painted on top with hammerite.

I'm using paint similar to Hammerite, just a different name. Sounds like a plan, I will give it a go and see what happens :p

+1 I have done this before, and all I used was a strong wire brush, some fine wet & dry sandpaper then painted on top and it came out quite nicely!

Wire brushed mine then used brake disc de-greaser, then used cur-rust to stablise the base then used proper two part brake caliper paint that it high temp resistant...still ok after 4yrs!! B)
