MPG Display

Featured Replies

The electric mpg read out on my dash board has suddenly gone odd it displays radom numbers - it seems to go up with a series of random numbers ( say 32.6 40.9 74.0 95.0 115 for example) then it displays --- then goes down the way in random numbers again. Any ideas?

Isuspect you're are looking at the 'live' mpg readout :giggle:

( --- indicates the pump has shutoff, so no fuel flow )

the average mpg readout will like " Ø32.5 " for example

push control on the end of wiper sticker up or down to cycle through

How terribly embarrassing.

Not really. My new A4 has a new 'Economy' screen on the DIS and once you are in there you can flick up and down the displays using the column-end buttons but it only shows economy information eg. how much diesel the air conditioning is using up etc. One of the displays shows instantaneous and average economy on the same screen and that's the one I normally have on. I was driving along last week and I was VERY pleased with my average MPG as it crept over the normal 45MPG, then went over 50, then higher still. THe economy has been getting better but then when it went to 65 average I smelt a rat and looked again carefully and it was the trip mileage it was displaying below the instantaneous readout.

Pressing the stalk-end button again brought me back to 45MPG with a bump! If you have a newish car with features you've not seen before it's easy to get confused
