Which oil?

Featured Replies

Got a 1.4TSI on variable servicing and I've noticed the oil getting a little low. I'm about 5000 miles away from the next service so would rather not risk waiting until then so just wondered what oil I need to buy to ensure I have the correct stuff for my variable servicing schedule.

Thanks in advance.

How low is it??

507.00

Manual's take such a long time... its quicker on here :p

Low as in about 3 or 4 notches above the minimum.

Castrol Edge or something like that, look on the back of the bottle, as long as it meets VW 504.00/507.00 specification then it should be fine.

Castrol Edge 5/30 VW spec 504.00/507.00 is £30.00 at ASDA.

This 5 litres?

I think Castrol Edge only comes in 4 litre drums.

Castrol Edge can be purchased in 1 litre top up bottles, typically £13-16 each. I purchased 1 litre Quantum long life oil from my local Skoda dealer for about £8 inc VAT

It's £10.00 for a Ltr and £30.00 for 4Ltr at ASDA, not bad when you look at Halfords prices.

I bought Shell Helix Ultra to keep in my car for those occasions the levels get a little low.

Really quite reasonably priced over at Opie Oils and VW 507.
