Bolero Touchscreen dies

Featured Replies

I have a 10 plate Elegance Combi with the MFSW and touchscreen the Bolero.

Yesterday, I stopped by the dealership to pick up some bits after driving for a couple of miles I wondered why I was listening to SWMBO's dancy dancy music, when I had some perfectly good Abba.. I mean driving tracks on the SD card..

So I pressed the SELECTION menu on the touch screen so I could navigate to another folder and nothing happened. I tried skip forward, and nothing. None of the touchscreen worked..

When I got to my destination (picking mu little boy up - so couldn't return to the dealership) I turned the engine off, removed the key, locked the car, unlocked and tried the Bolero again - same thing, nothing happened.

I had to trek to Stafford that night to pick up SWMBO's new mobile from UK Mail, again the unit was still dead.

I called the dealership and explained the problem and they booked it in for a check-up, unfortunately it will be a couple of weeks as I need a replacement car whilst it's with them.

This morning, I got in the car and the Bolero is working fine.

This has happened twice now in 6 months, has anyone else seen this issue? Do you know of a solution, as I guarantee that it will go into the dealership they will stick it on VAGCOM and not find a fault with it.

As Bolero's are not that cheap to replace (OK, not quite Columbus prices but I still don't have that cash burning a hole in my pocket), I don't want it failing any time soon.

Besides - if I am stuck with a long drive and Cascada once more, people will know Road Rage emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Any suggestions?

i had this fault with my last vehicle it was a sinister creeping up on you type of fault ! it began as you describe only happening on really rare occasions however within a month or two it had become a regular occurrance it was a faulty head unit power supply but as the whole unit was integral it meant a swap out of the whole unit, they did try the old "never had this , its not doing it now etc " so i videod the sorry saga on my phone and showed them it in the service dpartment ,this along with going in to the dealer whilst it was actually in "not having it" mode got the unit renewed.
