Tdi cat downpipe

Featured Replies

Just put a de cat and a full stainless system on my tdi

Is there any need for me to keep the cat for mot or any other reason?

Just a thought as i didnt want to get rid of it and then find out i need it!

im more than sure that diesels are smoke tested and not emissions tested so there is no legal requirement for a cat in your system, this is the way i understand it anyway!

+1  Diesels don't have emmisions test just a smoke test(they don't even do that sometimes) if the tester doesn't think the engine will cope with a smoke test(redline) then they won't do a proper one. my TDCi mondeo i had before the Octy had no cat and passed two MOT's without it

Technically the tester could say that the exhaust system has a part missing, as it had a cat when it came out the factory, But that could be said for lots of mods
