2nd service cost?

Recommended Posts

It's coming up to the time that I need to give the car it's 2nd service. Does anyone know what sort of price I should be paying from Skoda? The car, if you didn't know, is a MY08 petrol vRS. As far as I know it's on a fixed service plan. The car has done just over 19k.

I took out the service plan in aug,its £299 not £199,it will cover my 3rd & 4th year services, brake fluid is now changed every 3 years so i dont think the 2 year service is much more than a oil change & inspection,id of thought it would cost at a dealer around £150-£200,best to ring round & get some quotes.

Yes it is £299 but then you got £100 "vouchers" back to spend on any Skoda parts, accessories etc. At that time, my second year service would have cost about £260 to £270 and the third year about £120 - and that from a specialist dealer, not a main dealer.

So about £380 as against, in effect, £199.

Is the Skoda service plan offer still around? (£199 for two annual services) If it is, grab it.

According to anything I can find on it, the offer ended 31st December 2011 although I realise that doesn't mean it's definite.

Ring a local dealer and check with them. Simpsons in Colne are good if you fancy a trip over the border :)

Depending on the area and dealer, 2nd annual service cost would be between £230-260.

That is weird. How did they choose who got the vouchers? I wasn't even told it was part of the deal, they just showed up about a week after the service was done.

That two services for £299 offer should still be on, I took my VRS in for the coil pack recall this week and saw a point of sale for the offer on the service desk. Not sure about the vouchers though, I think that ended last year.

That was the cost of a second annual on a Fabia vRS about 4-5 years ago, so it's not a new cost really!

That was an indicative cost; as said - you're best ringing around your local dealers and get a few prices. You can often get one to price match against the other, which should realise some savings.

just had the second service on my TDI and was no more than oil and filer. Came to £175.00. Not sue if that helps to gauge petrol service price

That's disgraceful for an oil change. (What, £30 in materials and less than an hour's work?)

As regards 2 service.Mines due for 1 service whats general price?

No problem, I paid £130 maybe more for the first service and they do jack all but change the oil and fart in a bag. Scandalous. I'd do it myself except I want a full Skoda service history.

Oh and no - not just motoring but it's the one thing I really enjoy - the household bills constantly rising annoy me but nothing more than motoring. The fact that petrol has gone up so sharply in the past two years is just plain ridiculous, factor in everything else and I'm starting to have to reconsider owning this car. I'm going to be gutted to see it go but in the next 6 months I really don't see an alternative.

I need to get this second service and it's first MOT done then she'll be ready for selling. I need to get the best price.

My first year fixed service was about £120 at a specialist dealer (still counts for warranty). Their price for 2nd annual would have been about £260 but then I went to the Skoda deal.

Re: petrol, my daughter lives in Miami and says they are all going ballistic because gas is about $4 a gallon !! (They don't know how lucky they are.)

I phoned my local Skoda garage to see if they had the £299 special offer or anything else but the reply I got was fairly confused as I think their service guys weren't available, I gave them the details for my car (25K, TDI VRS, 56 plate, annual service) and they said £90 + VAT which doesn't sound right.

I'm pretty sure they've got it wrong, it's just a bit annoying as I'm thinking of taking the car down to Manchester and was thinking as it's due a service it's probably better to get it done beforehand although the car has only done 3,000 miles since its service last year. I may end up giving the garage in Edinburgh a shout and take the car through there on the way to Manchester, that's where I took the car for its timing belt.

Well, so far Simpsons want £290 for 2nd service inc pollen filter and brake fuild change, DM Keith want £279 and Benfield want £248. I also rang an Harrogate Audi - "I'm sorry sir we only service Audi's" was the reply - harrumph! :dull:

Edit: Leeds VW won't service a Skoda either!!

WTF - Some VAG group badge snobbery going on??
