PD100 CLUTCH GONE? :(

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I was driving my pd100 2001 fabia elegance today and kind of floored it in second to 3k rpm lol, as I was about to put it into third the clutch pedal literally pulled itself in completely.

I pulled over and the pedal does come back slightly (10cm or so)

Now the car was brought home in second gear, but what I wanted to ask is it my clutch or cable that has gone; bearing in mind the car drove 2 miles in second gear.

I don't know what clutch to replace it with, I've seen clutch and flywheel on ebay for around 50 quid but in used condition.

Should I get the vr6 clutch and flywheel or just replace it with a clutch from a pd130+ because I want to remap soon as well.

Thanks

I don't think the pd130 clutch will fit. I had a pd100 a few years back and Jabbasport sorted me out with a clutch/flywheel which coped with 180 bhp and 300 lbs of torque. Im sure it was a clutch from a g60 or something.

The PD130 clutch will NOT fit

Yours is a 5 speed and the vRS is a 6 speed , so a big no no

Yes the VR6 and G60 combo will fit

Yours is an 02J gearbox , the same as the Ovty vRS , but the Fabia vRS is a 6 speed and an 02M

Hope that helps?

Oh and it does not have a cable , as it is hydraulic

With that with the issue with the pedal , I would put my money on the master or slave cylinders

Master is in the engine bay , slave is in the gearbox

If there is a slight oil leak around the gerarbox , you may be unlucky

If not , you may be lucky

My 100PD Fabia had done 204k miles , was mapped at 90k and was still on the origional clutch if that helps?

Haha oh yh it is hydraulic.

Turns out it is something that has snapped/broken behind the pedal area, after some inspection by my father.

Therefore it will not engage the clutch. I think the clutch is fine (hope so!)

might just need a new pedal mechanism.

Cheers for the replies!

Happened to me turned out to be a weld broken on the pedal, theres a box section that houses the clip where the pedal connects to the brake servo that snapped, couple of welds and its all sorted

Hey turns out it was a piece of plastic and metal that had broken.

The whole part was replaced I'm not sure what its called exactly (£5 :D)

I'm soo glad that it wasn't the clutch.

great news

lol guys when ever your clutch pedal gives up on you don't start crying there and then like I did :p thinking it was the clutch.

Calm down and investigate the problem first its a simple DIY job, garage was charging £30 just to inspect the problem.

Good job my dads a mechanic though.
