Featured Replies

It's a 1.6 glxi, the revs fluctuate when idling some times and cuts out some times when coming up to stop at traffic ,I searched this forum last week and seen that the 906 relay for the fuel injection was hinted at so I replaced it and still it does the same and strangely when it's stopped and ticking over with the revs going up and down from 800 to 2000 rpm if you turn the steering wheel one whole turn to the right or left the it rectifies itself and ticks over nicely .70000 miles on the clock the timing belt done at 68 k when I bought it and serviced and clean car anyhelp would be great thanks

Check the air intake pipes from the air cleaner and associated bits to the throttle body for splits/holes. Similar happened to my brothers 2000 1.6 VW Bora. Taped up the offending areas with insulation tape as a temporary fix until a new part was sourced and sorted the problem! If this does not solve it, it could be the throttle body wanting a good clean.

My mrs has a mk4 golf, i had the same problem, cutting out, hunting revs, gave the throttle body an inside the inlet a clean out as it was very dirty and now it runs sweet! try that dude
