Tired of White VRS seats?

Featured Replies

Hey there! Was totally fed up with the off white VRS seats and found this simple solution, spray them! You may have already heard of it before, but In case you haven't, I used Simply Spray Fabric Paint for upholstery. My link There is a handy video on this site.

I used Auto Glym hi-foam interior shampoo first, and then once dry I applied 3 coats of Midnight Black (they do lots of different colours) to each separate seat, giving one day (in a warm room) for drying in-between coats. I used 11 cans in total, which has given a dark grey/charcoal colour.

Tip: when it says "shake can", it means REALLY shake the can, in-between sprays all the time, and keep the can in an upright position as best you can, they can clog, and use a whole can at a time if you can as leaving it till next use will result in a blockage and much swearing.. I had a dodgy can and a replacement was sent the next day FOC.

All round a cheaper alternative to re-upholstering.

I think they came out alright, what do you think?

I like them! Be interested to see how long they last though.

Thanks Joe. According to the product they are non-fading and U.V. tolerant. I do have a spare can for touch ups, though.. ;)

Think I may have gone darker. Be interesting to see if all your clothes turn black haha

The photo's make them look lighter than they really are Tas, but being an ex goth i've got plenty of black clothes to wear (if i can still get in them!) :D. Will update in a few weeks on the fading.....all fingers crossed.

Look good. I guess you have to be very careful to try and get an even coating? Must have been very time consuming. Well done for giving it a go though!

That's very brave. Hats off to you for having the courage to do this. The results look good.

Agreed, looks good. How much did it cost for the 11 cans?

you brave brave brave man :D

Look very nice indeed, hope it works and they stay like that.

Im well impressed with that but will wait to see if your clothes soak the paint up, keep it updated well done!!

Brave?? Stupid!! It's actually easier than it looks, as long as the fabric is clean and dry the spray goes on really easy and doesn't streak, even if you overlap. Much easier than paint spraying.

The cans cost just under £10 each. Did the passenger seat first, I'm still married and not sleeping on the sofa so I think the paint is colourfast (as the company proclaimed..)

looks really good fella they look brand new and as if there meant to be like that

I really like them !!!

Good work :)

Brave! Looks pretty good! does it look completely even in real life? No change in shade etc?

If I were to do it I'd go for broke, skoda green or red...

Interesting approach. I really quite liked the white seats when I had Fabias - but maybe that was just me? ;)

Almost look like a suede or alcantara effect in the photos....
