Octavia 1600 GLX Petrol

Featured Replies

Hi all,

It was good to find this forum.

I bought a new 1600 GLX petrol Octavia in 1999 and still have it with c.105,000 miles on the clock and what a grand reliable car it has been. However, I have had a problem for some time with the engine 'hunting' on tick over and uneven running when accelerating at the lower end of the revs range. I took it to the local Skoda agent and they said the computer indicated a lambda probe was faulty, which I had changed, it was not a cheap job! :-)) It made no difference, so I have just put up with the problem rather than have a series of component changes that make no difference but cost a lot! I feel now I would rather like to get it sorted.

Any ideas, please? I can't find anything on the net and I've not come across a car quack in my locality I would trust.

Thanks

kin

Hiya.

In your case, presuming the car to be regularly serviced, I'd start by going to our VCDS forum, and looking to see if you can find someone with diagnostics kit near you who'll scan the EMS for faults for free or a few beer tokens.
