Interior less drab?

Featured Replies

Yes and thats what vrs has too....

Errrr not the chrome top on the gearstick......vrs is more alu look! ;)

Not cheap for vinyl. By the way, if you go to the bathroom section in B&Q they have brushed aluminium vinyl in a big roll for about £7.

Flocked dash? =) im tempted to get mine done

Liking the silver vents Rob, looks really good!

I know not using a lacquer keeps the appearance matt but I'd be worried in case I knocked the paint and chipped it!

If I were to go for the painted vents like Tech1e and Rob or even the felt pillars like Bazmcc.....what colour do you think I should go for? Sorry to seek advice on something as inane as that...but I really lack creativity and don't want to end up doing something that looks really garish and chavvy :$

It's cayenne orange in metallic paint......rest of the interior is standard Comfort finish. In a moment of boy racer madness I replaced the gear knob with a red leather and chrome finish one and put on a red leather steering wheel cover. Got black generic seat covers on as I couldn't get the previous owner's stains off the seats (was reassured it's nothing gross).

Was considering sticking with red...but maybe that's too juvenile :p What would look more grown up? I was thinking of painting the calipers sometime...presumably with whatever colour I use on the interior trimmings...

To spruce up the looks I've replaced the front wipers with Bosch aeros (which work fantastically), did the Golf MK4 rear wiper upgrade (although now the washer sprays too strongly and arches over the car instead of on the rear window), put in the Elegance model drawer instead of the cubbyhole (looks sleeker), got a new set of number plates in plate holders (which look so much better than the 10 year old ones), changed interior lights to LED and upgraded all front bulbs to brighter OSRAM / Philips ones, JVC single DIN CD/USB player.

Working on gradually repairing the chips and polish over the finish with my new silverline. have yet to get to work on sealing the rear door window regulator panel to stop the leaks, might go for a shark fin if i feel brave enough to pull down the roof trim. Not sure on how to revamp the rear lights...bought a milotec matt black light mask, awaiting to fit and see. What colour tints would look good/pass MOT? Was thinking of doing the white bits on the rear lights so as to avoid the reflectors.....

With the engine, I've done the pikey air intake mod and cleaned out the engine bay as much as I could with a can of degreaser. Am waiting for my next oil service to do the engine flush.

And none of this would have happened without the inspiration and guidance from all you Briskodians!

I've just got a bit of a complex with my car...all these posh students around me whiz around in their lovely Audis, Jags and Astons (thanks to bank of Mum & Dad) while I potter around in my furby. Perils of being a mature student scraping in through the generous widening participation scheme :p

Yeah, the heater vents come out as units and then you can dismantle them to paint only the frame.

I did mine silver, and also fitted footwell lights

I like the bold colors and silver is a little obvious, but it matches all the other vRS trims bits nicely. The look a bit bright in the pic but the vents are more like the gear knob surround.

My paint is 2 years old-ish now and looks as good as the day I did them. I just roughed up the surface with some light sand paper and went straight on with the colour, no primer.. I used allot of paint though and sanded between coats for a nice smooth finish.. I didn't use any lacquer either as I didn't want them reflective, I liked the matt / Alu kinda finish, again.. to match the kn0b, dials etc.

Lovin the footwell lighting  - details please!!

I'd love to remove my interior vent surrounds and carbon wrap them, does anyone know how to remove them? Or how much for some replacements so I can keep the standard ones. Fancy this as a little project to keep me occupied once the darker nights are here. Anyone recommend some carbon film, and if anyone's already done it pics please.

Naaa, It's quite tough once you've got a few coats on.. And lacquer is only another coast after all. (EDIT! Typo, Coast, lol.. It was meant to be coat, but actually, it is an additional cost as well, so coast is perfect, lol)

Fairly easy to do

I use a plastic door trim remover but a flat blade screwdriver coved with a cloth will do

Just slide the screwdriver between the grill vents and the dash and slowly leaver the vents out

They are just pushed into the dash and held in place by sprung metal clips

Hope this makes sense
