Upgrade the bushes

Featured Replies

Thanks,

word of caution though, the front assembly carrier and control arm (wishbone) design changed in August 2010. Therefore this aspect of the kit is not as suggested 'Current'

has anyone fitted the Superpro engine bush(es)? I'd be curious as I'm sure the engine / transmission is moving as you change gear

April 1st  course they're moving!

April Fool not intended. Sorry.

What I meant by 'engine movement' was engine rocking and/or transmission shunt, when you come off the power and change gear. Is this is recognised issue, or should I be looking at the mounts? Are they simple rubber bushes, or oil filled mounts? And can this feeling be reduced by installing SuperPro bushes?

You'll no doubt reduce it but also increase the NVH of the drivetrain into the cabin area. :(

Fair enough; I've done the same on my other car, but as far as the NVH is concerned it's only a small resonance with a cold engine at idle. That I can live with. I just like the feel of a more immediate connection when the clutch is engaged.

And I was wondering if anyone else has done this?

Yes, engines move about. They are designed to do it a small amount.

How old and how many miles has your Yeti done?

Mine's done 80k miles and there is no more movement now than there was when new.

As have I but depending on the shore rating of the bush it can certainly be felt at other times, not just when cold and at idle. Good luck with it, I dont think theres a Yeti owner on here thats done this though.

I know that engines move around, they are typically isolated by rubber or oil filled mounts to absorb some of the vibration and not provide a sound path for noise. It just seems a bit excessive, and either a mount has failed (which I doubt since it was just inspected) or there is what I regard as a bit of excess movement. My previous Subaru's didn't do this at all, and their engines didn't come with dual balancer shafts for NVH etc. As to mileage, mine's done 82,000km (or roughly 51,000 miles).

Thanks, I might well be the first. I'll report back when I do.
