Service update - MY11 Elegance 2.0CR TDI

Featured Replies

Just had a call from the local dealers asking me to put my car in for a service update, I asked what it was for and they were not able to give me any information, I asked if there was a service update number, and again not able to tell me.

I will be calling back this afternoon and I hope I get someone a bit more helpful. Just wondered if anyone with a similar car/engine has been contacted regarding this and could shed some light on it?

I recently had my car serviced and they updated the steering column software. I did ask why and they said a few cars have been found to have faults so its a precautionary measure

I've just had to call my local dealers because I couldn't drop my car in tomorrow as scheduled, due to work commitments. The lady asked me if I wanted to make another booking and I said no not really, it's a bit of a pain.. and I mean if you can't tell me the nature of the update, I don't see why I should be without my car for a day, can't it just be done when it has a service surely?

"IT NEEDS TO BE DONE BECAUSE SKODA SAID IT MUST BE DONE!" she hissed.

Well, I said you've only got my number because I've had the aircon fixed by your garage before, you wouldn't know who to hassle if it wasn't for that, and we both know there's money to be made here. I mean Skoda haven't tried to contact me directly about this.

"Right!" she said "I'll find out what the recall is for.." (note, it's now a recall, not an update!)

As I wait on the phone I hear her scowl to herself "HOW RUDE!"

"Oh really? I'll give you fecking rude" I said, and hung up.

10 Minutes later I get an almost polite msg left on my voicemail "The recall sir is for the software for the controls on the steering wheel, as in some cases they might stop working, including the horn. So it's important to get it done, so if you could call me back on......"

Well the amount of time I spend flicking between tunes, I think I'll know long before that emergency horn situation arises, and the brakes are always a good backup plan. So I'll wait till my service is due. Unless they want to come and collect and bring it back all clean with a VRS spolier.
