Now the vat discount is 5%

Featured Replies

just check on the website where i order my car and the price differences between vat free offer and 5% vat

on top of broker discount

If i wanted the same car today i would have to pay nearly £600 more then the price i paid of 14112.82

glad i got the order instead of waiting for next 'better offer'

Noticed this the other day. They've also slightly changed which models are covered by the deal:

VAT reduction equivalent to 15.0% VAT applied to the original base price including factory fitted optional extras on all Fabia, Roomster, petrol Octavia (excluding 1.6 MPI Octavia and Octavia Scout petrol and diesel engines) and petrol Superb new car retail orders taken before 30 June 2011. Reduction applied to the RRP including factory fitted optional extras. VAT is still applicable and will be shown on the customer invoice.

So no more VAT discounts on petrol Octavia Scouts although you can still get the discount on the Octava 4x4 and Superb 4x4 :wonder:

Not sure about that. This is what I just found on skoda.co.uk

Please note:

*Reduction equivalent to 15% VAT applied to original base price including factory fitted optional extras on all new retail orders subject to availability before 30th September 2011 excluding Yeti, Octavia 1.6 MPI, Octavia Scout and Superb diesels.

That suggests no discount on any Octavia Scout or any diesel Superb. That must make the 4x4 Octavia a lot cheaper than the Scout!

It appears the discount is purely to take the heat off them a little from the huge waiting times on the more popular engines, it will also be interesting to see how this will hit the residuals in a couple of years time, my guess is the saving made now will all but be wiped out when you come to sell??

There are two separate bits of T&Cs kicking around on the Skoda website. The one that you quoted implies that there is a discount on normal Octavia diesels which there won't be.

Comparing the 1.8 TSI 4x4 and 1.8 TSI Scout there would be about £3,400 difference with the VAT deal compared to a £1,100 difference normally.

I think you'll be better off as if the car is 2k cheaper now, it's not going to be worth 2k less come resale time. So overall you'll be better off.

Plus in the meantime it's less money tied up in a vehicle.
