Hybrid pd150

Featured Replies

how much boost can a hybrid pd150 handle?

and what kind of power will you get with say 1.6 bar?

of course will all supporting mods

I'm running 1.8-2 bar. 1.6 will see just under 200bhp IIRC.

1.65 bar and 201bhp

I was kind of expecting around 220bhp figures? :wonder:

1.65 bar and 201bhp

crank that sucker up Ross!

clutches are overrated these days :p

I'm running a Hybrid 130 and its limited to 1.8 bar

I have had no problems what so ever so i guess the 150 hybrid may handle slightly more

Although i'm not sure if any the differences in the internals

What power are u running?

never been on a rolling road but it feels much faster than the stage 1 map i had when i was running the KKK turbo and that made 169bhp

Peak torque comes in higher now and is held all the way through the rev range, actually there feels like less low down punch but i like that,

Its very progressive and runs perfect on a standard clutch

A "washbrook" special

So everyone is quoting figures without actually mentioning what work has been done to the turbo, what compressor size is being used, bore work, actuator change, etc etc. So the figures don't generally mean a lot.

Post up which hybrid you have, the turbo specs, who built it, and what power you have after that.

From 1.6 bar?! No lol, why run it at 1.6 anyway, near 2.0 bar is where the action is at

Clutch preservation ;) 2.0 bar is where the maf problems are at.

Why would it cause maf problems?

Maybe it can't read the flow properly, both MAF and MAP sensors as fitted to standard TDI engines have an upper limit after which they won't read any more. I wonder if 2 bar is the magic figure that sends one or both "off the scale"?

I'm pretty sure there was no issues when I spoke to ali? Use a 1.8T one no? I did say "near 2.0 bar" lol. Looking after the clutch is one thing but then expecting 220bhp? Just get a decent mapper to limit the torque, sorted.

Matt

The pd130 has a 3bar map sensor and the maf would simply read airflow until it maxes out I think at approx 1290ish anyway so it would be irrelevant to any sort of scale.

Remember you need to add atmospher pressure. So the map sensor will be right on the limit with a turbo requesting 2 bar.

My bora spikes at 29psi and holds at 24 and I'm in and around the 190 - 195bhp mark on a standard vnt17 150 turbo. In my opinion that turbo is probably only 10 bhp off it's reliable limit. So if you are on a hybrid pushing a few extra psi and pushing it up near the limits, then it might be worth looking at the 2.0l tdi transporter map sensor which is 4bar but I'd say you'd be well into a very highly strung engine if you need anywhere near that sort of pressure.

Ask XAOSX about maf...

He has a 1.8T one doesnt he?

Matt

Think he's currently using one from a TT225 (which I always thought was the same as other 1.8Ts)

He's had them all, and somehow his car has exceeded the limits of R32 and V6 4mo MAFs :|

(I still think its a map related issue, but this probably isn't the time or place to discuss....)

no the TT225 is a K04 is it not?

There's plenty of guys in the states with much bigger turbos with the R32 MAF and TB and not having any issues.

Absolutely. But until recently I was not aware that the TT225 engine (APX/BAM) has a 3' MAF which is slightly larger than the sub 200bhp (standard) 1.8Ts. For some bizarre reason, I thought that the APX & BAM engine MAFs were different :D - madness, been away from 1.8Ts for far too long...

I agree with your other point about other VAG cars running big power fine with an R32 MAF - which is why i'm so surprised about Luke's MAF issues...

I ran a stage 2 pd150 turbo dynamics hybrid at 1.9bar

No maf issues
