Brake Bleeding

Featured Replies

Hi all. I know there are some topics discussing brake bleeding but none have answers to my query. I have recently done the following:-

Replaced Master Cylinder

Replaced all disks and pads

Replaced rear brake hoses **flexi to copper pipe**

I have used the Eezibleed method and using the Haynes Manual I bled in the following way:-

Bled the master cylinder and the primary and secondary valves

Bled NSF left bleed valve

Bled OSF right bleed valve

and then I followed the normal procedure:-

Bled clutch bleed valve located on top of the transmission housing

Bled OSR bleed valve

Bled NSR bleed valve

Bled OSF bleed valve

Bled NSF bleed valve

And again to point out I was using the Haynes manual. So whats the problem? Problem is that when I pump the pedal several times it becomes solid and resists just as Haynes suggests it should and then when I start the engine the pedal moves slightly but then still feels spongy. Again pumping the pedal makes it solid and resists but then starts to drop very slowly half way past the clutch and accelerator pedal and then resists.

In general, there is resistance there but it just feels slightly spongy. I know this means there is air in the system still but could there be something I am missing?

The brake system is the IE Mark 20

Thanks

You probably have air in the ABS module, which was introduced when te master cylinder was replaced. To get it out, you need vagcom or dealer diagnostics, as it cannot be removed using normal methods. It has a built in bleeding procedure.

Seconded.
