Driving position

Featured Replies

For the past few cars I have had the drivers seat has been set at its lowest position with the seat back fairly upright. I have a relatively long back and shorter legs so need to get my head away from the roof. Has worked well and I have generally felt comfortable so naturally set the Superb seats to this when I got it is last month.

Found after a couple of weeks I was getting a pain in lower back with position of right leg so started experimenting with seat position. After 35 years of driving I have now got the seat set much higher, and tilted much further back than I have ever used before. Steering wheel is fully out at furthest setting from dashboard, previous car was hard up to dashboard. Realise now this is a much more relaxed driving position than bolt upright and has had a knock on effect on driving style- I now relax back in to the drivers seat, get to speed and hit the cruise control then enjoy the ride. Not sure why but makes the car feel much more like a limo than the upright position I used to use.

Means the grin when driving is getting bigger by the day ;)

Thats exactly why I ordered a superb, I sit like that in my Passat. So much so I can only just push the clutch to the floor.

I hate having rear passengers as I have to set the seat upright and forward, been 6'3 most of that is legs.

On the test drive I could get the seat right back and sit where I feel comfortable and everything was in the right place. I'm looking forward to the MFSW so I can change the volume without having to lean forward. :giggle:

I have to admit, I have a totally different seat position in my superb compared to my Saab 93. I sit higher and also feel more relaxed :)

Thanks for the tip! Now I will go experimenting on an even more relaxed driving position. Since I have a electric clutch maybe I can get the chair a few inches further back? B)
