Testing engine electronics light has come on

Featured Replies

Good evening, BRISKODA!

I just wondered if you guys (and girls) would be so kind as to offering me some advice on why the 'Testing engine electronics' light comes on and what the possible causes are.

I've just bought the car which is a 2005 model and it's covered 75,000 miles.

As far as I can tell, the car is running OK. There was a slight whistling sound when I switched on the car but that stopped and the light remained on.

But I've also noticed some light smoke when the air is switched on but this disappears after a minute or two.

I'm quite concerned. Should I stop driving it? Could it be anything serious?

Any advice would be most welcome.

It could be absolutely anything.

Best thing to do is get it read with vag-com, ro dealer diagnostics. That would give you a clue as to what it could be.

The whistling is called asecondary air pump, and it's normal. Sounds a bit like a hairdryer for a minute or so.
