Which Roof Bars?

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Thinking of taking the Mountain Bike down to Cornwall this year. I have two decent Thule Bike Carriers from my previous car but now need some roof bars for the Octavia.

Can anyone recommend a good set of roof bars, how much I can expect to pay and a decent supplier?

Thanks in advance. :thumbup::)

Skoda ones or the thule aero bars. Expensive but well worth it. I have the thule ones which I got for the bargain price of £50 from ebay as the seller didn't really know what they were, how much they were worth or how to use ebay! They were from a golf so just needed to buy the foot adaptor kit for £25.

So might be worth keeping an eye out on the bay!

I also have the vw cycle carriers which I believe are the same as the thule pro ride and they fit perfectly in the t track.

There are some atera ones in the for sale section ;-)

I have just purchased a Thule set (feet & aero bars) from Ebay.

I sourced each item individually as it worked out a lot cheaper & as JRW mentions there are some bargains to be had.

The best place I found for the actual bike carriers (591) was an online indy Ford parts dealer about £55 inc p&p.

I find www.skidrive.co.uk pretty good value & you can buy sets or just parts. I use 591's on my Citroen for exactly the same purpose you are intending to use it for & I will use them on my Octy too. I use a Thule roof bar set & have no problems in the 18 months i've been using them.
