Brake Warning Light wont go out!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have done some searching on here and only really found stuff relating to the Felly, and im not sure how alike the 2 models are (favvy and felly).

What would cause this light to come on? i know its not the handbrake switch cause i have a seperate light for that and it goes off as you would expect when i put the handbrake down. The fluid is it the correct level so im not sure what else to check?

If i disconnect the wires going to the brake fluid cap should this turn the light on or off? (maybe the cap sensor is faulty?) or if i join them would this make the light go out? If its not this, then what else can i check :S ?

Cheers all!!

Possibly there is a switch that makes contact with your brake foot-pedal that could be suspect.

Test the contacts and wiring attached to the switch for a possible open/ broken circuit, or even a faulty switch itself.

The switch simply makes a complete circuit and allows the brake light/s to illuminate.

Try disconnecting the wiring to the brake switch to see if brake lights go out?

As said nothing to do with hand-brake.

One thing what is a a felly and favvy ?? can only guess what you mean.

Hi,

My brake lights are working ok, it the brake warning light on the dash thats stuck on :)

Im trying to use the lingo im finding on the site and and as far as i understand so far, favvy is a favorit and felly is the felicia :D

What about the brake pads on the front? You checked to see if they have warning sensors fitted? If they have & the pads are getting worn out, that would bring the light on.

Felicia & Favorit perchance?

This member has said word for word as a possible,emoticon-0148-yes.gif adding, brake pad wires could have fouled and are earthing out.emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

Hi all,

Thanks for the reply, i will whip off the front wheels then and check for any wires that look like they should connect to the pads :)

Cheers!

The light is normally used for one or both of 2 things:-

1) Worn front brake pads (which you're checking).

2) Low brake fluid level (hence why the reservoir cap has wires attached to what would otherwise be a dust cover).
