What make is the "Symphony"?

Featured Replies

No doubt this question is asked from time to time but a search didn't yield any results for me.

I only ask because a colleague who recently sat in my car doesn't like not knowing!!

Blaupunkt is the usual vee-dub brand is it not...?

Regards,

Think it's grundig. It's very similar in operation to the VW gamma which is made by both Grundig and Sony. The Grundig made ones are generally considered as having better sound quality.

Grundig.

Blimey there's a blast from the past! Welcome back, Mark!

I was gonna say Grundig too - when I had my last Octy, I got a load of Grundig manuals with it, although by that time the HU had been swapped out for a Clarion.

Have to say that having had the VRS for about a week now, I'm not finding the Symphony that much worse. I've put my Pioneer speakers back in the rear now, and tbh it doesn't sound that different. 2 minor niggles - I don't like the way the volume control sticks out so far when the unit is on, and I wish I could get the display to show the time, I had the Clarion configured for that and I keep looking to my left for the time. The third niggle is there doesn't seem to be a way of running it with the key out of the ignition.

Thanks for the prompt replies :D

And thanks for the welcome back. The bit at the top said my last visit was Feb 2004, but I still have the briskoda.net sticker on my rear window and still lovin' the vRS...

To listen without key in ignition, turn the unit off then back on again.

Cheers,

If it doesn't work with the key out of the ignition then there's something wrong. It should turn off when you take the key out but you should be able to turn it on by pressing the volume knob twice (off then on).

Will give that a try - it occurred to me as I was typing the question that it might work. Thanks guys!

Yes, Grundig. And welcome back, Mark!

If its not working go into the menu (press and hold TP) and make sure ignition is set to on..... it should work then.

IIRC the "Symphony" range of designs may be owned by VAG and sub contracted (just like brake pads) to several manufacturers. The one in the Fabia is made by Technisat , I'm not sure if Grundig manufacturer car radios anymore....
