Got my build week - 33

Featured Replies

My dealer has just phoned me up with my build week. Week 33 :) . My order was placed on 28th April for a 1.8TSI DSG Superb in Steel Grey with a couple of extra's.

He asked if that was OK, and I expressed that my only concern in that date was the part ex value of my beloved golf which is fast approaching 80k miles, and will be due a major service, DSG oil replacement, cambelt service, etc.

After some more discussion, it was suggested a possible early swap over and the loan of a Superb demonstrator so that the mileage was below 80k when I handed the golf in. He is also going to request an earlier build week, as he thinks it may be his fault that the build week is in August to meet a new registration in September which is not really required as it will be private plated from new.

Another update phone call from dealer. Build week now showing as week 32, so delivery should be early September.

Wasn't your part exchange value fixed when you placed your oder for the car?

When I bought my Octy vRS a few months back we agreed on a price for my 56 plate Octy vRS.

It didn't matter if my car took a week to arrive or 12 months - that was the agreed trade-in price and that wasn't going to change, no matter how long the car took to arrive.

Was that not the same situation with yours?

This was the second skoda dealer that i'd been too and he agreed a lot higher price for the part ex, but with the proviso that the mileage didn't exceed 82000 miles.

When the order was placed in April, we both looked at my normal mileage and calculated by mid August (the expected delivery date) it would be about 80k, so both were happy. He had also said that if I was getting close to the 82k he might give me a demonstrator to run round in.

Anyway, looks like its gonna be close, 78k on the clock, 1.5k per month.

Strange isn't it, the disparity you get sometimes.

I ordered one day later than you, the 2.0TFSI with lots of options and have been given a build week of 28, next week, second week of July.

Reality is I don't want mine until 1st Sept in order to pick up the new 61 plate.

Mind you that was as of 25th May, haven't checked recently.

Good luck with the order.

Steve.

I'll do you a swap steve. As I'm going to private plate mine and keep it for a good few years the new plate doesn't bother me.

Paid the dealer a visit today, he tells me my car is already built

He's looking forward to seeing it as well, it'll be the first 2.0TFSI they will have seen.
