power steering, speedometer and fuel gauge fail all at same time!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an 55 plate octavia 1.95tdi estate and came across a strange problem this evening driving home.

Noticed the steering was a bit heavy then spotted the yellow steering warning light on the dash, then I noticed the speedometer wasn't working at all and the fuel gauge was constantly going up and down!!

Bit of a coincidence that all 3 failed at the same time, could this be a bigger problem that's going to cost me??

Anyone any ideas??

sensor or fuse, just a guess. I'd disconnect the battery leave it for few mines and reconnect.

This gives it a minor reset. Just means sorting ur clock out again.

It wouldn't make it any worse trying this method but might not work just a suggestion as it happend to me before.

thanks, i'll give it a try

Just a quick note, as a result of disconnecting the battery you'll get a couple of warning lights on the dash anyway, including the power steering and abs lights. Normally a quick drive will clear those lights so you can test the car then.
