Hi all noob Octavia owner in the house !

Hello guys

Im not very good with the runnings of a motor. Recently bought a 52 plate octavia 20v 1.8 4x4 turbo. Was fine at first but now when I'm pulling away in 1st I get an intermittent dip from the turbo and it happens in second too now and then. All other gears are ok. Gently press the throttle I hear and feel the turbo but then it's like it cuts out and stops working. I lift off throttle then reapply and it's working again. And like I said it's intermittent. Any ideas ? After reading a few posts on here I've looked at some cables on eBay to do my own diagnostics too. Is there a specific one to buy or will the cheap £6 ones from china do the job ?

Thanx in advance

hi there thanx for the reply. Ive got a VAG Com cable and hooked it up to the car and its showing NO faults at all ?? i mentioned my fault to a friend and he said that maybe i have an air leak somewhere connecting to the turbo. I thought the cable may show something but no ?? any other ideas please.

what program did you use just noting you have bought a lead thats all did you use the software that came with it?? or have you downloaded vcds lite 1.1? check all the pipes around the TIP the one from the airbox and the ones underneath the inlet manifold for splits. also check the black rubber y shaped one(looking at engine from front it'll be on the right of the rocker cover) notorious for failing try those....
