I will admit to driving very easily with no mad overtaking bursts to get this figure. I actually had it up to 72mpg until I reached slow traffic near work.

I normally average 62ish on this route and my overall combined average is in around 59mpg at the moment. I do very little town driving which helps.

I must drive like a loon then as I saw 50mpg once on my cr on what was a very dull drive one day.

Yeah but you guys are in the petrol club.

not bad that, i can easily achieve 40mpg.....but it gets boring after a while lol.

I got 43 coming back from Glasgow yesterday. Highest I've ever seen.

Ok I had a strong wind behind and spent 25min in feckin average speed camera roadworks at 40mph. But still 43!

Your not driving it hard enough :giggle:

You work at the end of a 45 mile slope? And on the way home?

Driving my wife's car, the slug slow SDI which is probably the most economics Skoda there is, back from work which is down a steep 2 mile hill and I got 84mpg but by the time I got home showed 67mpg after 4miles

Couple of years ago in my 1.9TDi I drove from the Hardy Monument in Dorset heading north to the M5. After 20 odd miles of gentle 40-50mph on empty A roads I noticed that the journey average figure was in the 90's. I drove the next 10 miles or so with a feather on the throttle and got it to 99.4mpg. But then I reached a give-way. That's it! Won't reach 100! No traffic! Straight out. Got it to 104mpg over 30 odd miles before it started to drop. Arrived home 350 miles later and it showed the more usual high 50's.

Never saw it anywhere near that again! And I doubt if the current Octy will match it... Though there is someone on here who drives a similar 1.8TSI DSG... nah! let's not go there! :giggle:

There must have been a hell of a queue behind you!!! :dull::dull::thumbdown:

Unfortunately I didnt have my camera with me, but today after a 16 mile drive up and down Angus hills (Forfar-Brechin) at a very steady, but comfortable, pace my Superb 1.6CR showed 72mpg for a few brief seconds- dead chuffed. No matter how hard I drive it I cant drop it below 50mpg on country roads around here.

I guess your in Central Scotland like me then, the 40 roadworks are gettin real tiresome now.

Nope! Didn't see another car.

Wasn't really trying until I was determined to get it over 100. The Hardy Memorial is on high ground - highest point in Dorset - the whole route was a gentle down gradient on single carriageway A roads where 40-50 was a realistic speed.
