Hill hold on VRS

Featured Replies

I know this subject has been looked at often and I`ve done a search but I can`t find a definitive answer. Just got my vrs and was waiting at some lights on a hill. when green, I release the brake and press the loud pedal, only for the car to refuse to move until its 2 seconds holding are up. The next set of lights I waited for the 2 seconds to be up and lo and behold the blooming thing rolled back at an alarming rate....

Ideas? Does my DSG need an update or something???

Thanks guys,

Sorry to sound thick!

Not noticed it in the vRS to be honest. An astra hire car I had did this and it was so annoying. First time it happened I was sat revving trying to move thinking the stupid electric handbrake had seized on somehow.

You need to press the pedal down more. What you can find though is shooting forward very fast towards the rear of the car in front. To counter-act this you still need the handbrake in play and work your timing out better.

Practice makes perfect

The car shouldn't continue to hold for 2 secs once you have pressed the accelerator -hill hold should cancel instantly -if it doesn't I would get it looked at.

However if you sit there feet off the pedals waiting for the 2 seconds to be up it will of course roll back -thats normal.

well, I took it to my local dealer and they said there is nothing wrong with it. They muttered something to do with me just getting used to the car. ... In my mind it still judders forward but still.

Not cool. Sounds like they're being quite condescending to be honest.

Mybe its you, maybe its the car....but if you aren't happy then get one of the sales guys to try it while you are in the car....if he / she dont have the same issue then you have your answear

It would irritate me getting brushed off like that :wonder:

The VRS does have hill hold, although it releases the breaks the moment the throttle is applied enough to pull the car forward.

EDIT: Sorry should probably add; if you release the brake there will be a pause of a few seconds before the car starts to creep and if there's not enough throttle to start to pull then it will still take a few seconds.

Just push a little bit harder and you should find it releases instantly.
