Hi,

At over £200 I’ve decided to not buy a VAG-COM system for the time being so I’d like some help please!

I have recently bought the following items which need fitting:

New, Latest gateway to replace my non Bolero compatible one

Used, Bolero stereo (to replace my Stream MP3)

New, Automatic headlight switch

I would like to fit these and, in addition, activate coming home/leaving home lights and cornering fogs.

I’m confident with fitting these items, connecting up the extra wires required for the auto lights etc. but I would like to borrow someone to help me with the VAG-COM please. Is there anyone local to Southampton or Bournemouth that has a VAG-COM (or VCDS is it?) who can give me a hand to reprogram the new gateway and activate the additional features I’d like? I can bring beer money, actual beer, wine or whatever takes your fancy (within reason!) If you’re not familiar with how these particular things are done, I can read up on all the posts on here and give it a go myself if you’re willing to lend me the cable? I have used VAG-COM before on my S4 when I had to replace the ABS module and program the new one.

How far into Hampshire are you? I would be happy to help out if you fancied a small trip to Devon.

vagcom won't work on your car - you need the full VCDS like I have on octy 2

Thank you for your offer. Whereabouts are you in Devon? I have family in Cornwall so may stop off on the way.

I'm in Lymington, the New Forest.

Exmouth, so you kind of have to drive past (not too far) on A30/M5, or even closer if you choose the scenic route from near Lyme, taking the road toward Newton Poppleford, etc.

Are you around this coming Sunday? Think it's the 29th. I'll be at the West Country Land Rover Experience for my birthday on the Saturday and we're staying at a B&B for the night. if I can pursuade my girlfriend, i could come over on the Sunday.

I live in Ringwood & have VAGCOM, should be around all week with the exception of a day or two here & there.

Will 8.3 work with my car?

It "should" but from memory, VCDS 8.3 is the software version commonly known as "VCDS lite" which is often included with cracked versions of VCDS, not saying this is the case here. A fully updateable licensed version from Ross-tech should be on 10.6.4 now - I just updated to it.
