My Remap

Featured Replies

Took my car down to a company called vieuzu today to get my car remapped.

Mods on the car are -

Pd150 hybrid turbo

Miltek cat back system

Custom FMIC

EGR delete

SMF and uprated clutch

312mm brakes

pd160 intake

Did have a green cotton filter in but that was filthy so decided to put a clean standard filter in for now.

and the result was

dynorun.jpg

So she is running at around 198bhp/330lbft and thats at 1.6bar

Im not to clued up on maps so is this a good graph? seems as tho it quite a steady power curve unlike some i have seem which seem to jump about a bi(up and down).

All went really well apart from the boost pipe connecting to the turbo decided to split on the last run

So havent been able to test the car out yet until i can sort the pipe out which is killing me

Will update once the pipe is fixed to see how she goes on the road :D

im not soo sure, but it looks to me more a stage one map thats been tweaked a tad....

peak torque is way early whereas on a hybrid it should be around the 3.5k-4k rpm mark...

i'd go get it mapped by the likes of oscarli / jabbasport / awesome gti tbh

also theres another 30bhp to be had

Have a chat with Will at performance torque - in wolverhampton so about 2 - 21/ 1/2 hours from you. He's tuned mine to 186bhp and 328 lb/ft with the standard turbo and FMIC. Reckons on getting 220 - 230 bhp with stage 2 hybrid. Given me a great power curve whilst protecting the turbo - have a look at my dyno print -

like you I'm not sure what most of this means but I'm told it looks pretty good

What u mean It comes in way too early can they alter the map then so that it comes in later?

And what u mean there is Another 30bhp to be had by running same boost and tweaking it a bit?

Well by the looks of the graph peak torque comes in a massive lump right at the start about 1800rpm then dies off

Torque is all about how long you can keep it, peak torque on a hybrid should be near the top end of the scale 3.5k rpm to 4k rpm

Also another 30 bhp would be about 220/230bhp (what a hybrid can run)

I ran mines at 1.9 bar

A safe limit would be 1.8bar :)

Looks like to me the graph only starts at 2.5k and looks as thou the power stays constant all the way thru the range.

The guys there didn't want to up the boost no more than 1.6 bar .

How much of a difference would a green cotton filter make over standard filter?

Have you got a full size pic of the graph?

Torque and bhp differ

Pd150 hybrid?

1.8 bar is fine

Im sure the standard turbo can run 1.6 bar

Oh yeah my bad... Didnt realise it starts at 3k

Strange way to do a dyno printout most start at around idle speed

Well at least you know theres room for improvement if you so wish

And green cotton filter naff all!

Probs more chance of something getting past it and screwing your nice new hybrid

Decat would be a good move

That's what I was thinking with the boost was running it at 1.7-1.8.

I don't know why the graph only shows 2.5k upwards.

Forgot to mention I have a sports cat aswell.

I changes the air filter the last night because the old one was covered in crap which was. Green cotton so swooped it for a standard filter.

Will see how I get on with it once I have sorted the boost pipe out, Saturday hopefully. If I'm not happy with it then I will give then a ring and see if they can up the boost for me.

Well after picking up the new boost pipe this morning, fitted it no problem, then the test drive.

It does pull alot better now, a fair bit of torque steer, definately sounds louder, but I still think there is a bit more power so may get the boost upped.

its not all about boost, you need to correct fuel to air ratio as well otherwise the EGT and emissions go to pot and you'll soon kill the engine. There are several tuners on here who specialise in remapping cars with mods like yours, so I would have gone to them first to be honest.

iv got a decat pipe for sale if your thinking of going down that route mate :)

Well after using the car for a few days, it is a bit quicker than it was on the old map and turbo but its definately lacking. I have sent the company a email about upping the boost but they seem to highly recommend me not upping the boost they say that at the moment the car is running at a reliable 198bhp but as a few have said the pd150 hybrid can easily coap with 1.8 bar, i have told the company this but they seem to disagree. But they have agreed to up the boost for me at no cost as long as i sign a disclosure form.

Is there anything else i should ask them to alter apart from the boost?

I know i am probably better off going to someone like jabba or shark but i dont have the money at the moment to pay for another custom map.

Tbh I'd just wait until I could afford too. After seeing what poor mapping can do :(

After realising that the graph and figures i was given are at the wheels which now work out rather well, works out to around 231 at the flywheel so now im not so dissapointed with the map.

But now im in 2 minds wether or not to have the boost turned up? :wonder:

Hi,

That picture/graph you posted shows power and engine power (180 vs 198 BHP). That kind of implies that the 198 is flywheel power and the 180 is at the wheels.

Crunching numbers, your 0.2 bar means in theory, 7-8% more air is going through your engine. (2.8/2.6 * 100). Adding a little more fuel and allowing a little more smoke and I think you could see 210+. Alternatively, just pop it up 0.05 to 0.1 bar to get reliably over 200 bhp.

Went back up to the company i had my map done so that they could turn the boost up for me. Didnt really notice to much difference, car produced 10bhp more and torque dropped by around 5lbft. They said the intake pipe from the air filter is restricting the flow because it is sucking the pipe together. So i have ordered a solid pipe to stop this happening.

So me and a few of my friends wanted to get our cars done somewhere else so we went to a company local to us and here is the result

cffba822-1.jpg

So the car is running around 207bhp/330lbft.

What is motive force?

Fairly pleased with the cars progress as when i first had the map i had a quick sprint with my friend in his focus st which has a FMIC, Exhaust system and air filter. After the first map he pulled away by about 2-3 car lengths, but now since i have had the boost turned up there is nothing between us, side by side. His car ran 245bhp/230lbft today standard map.

So will see how she goes for now, may leave it as it is but may go jabba or somwhere similar in the future to see what they can do.
