Gap ins is it worth it ?

Featured Replies

Skoda want £299 for it Surf & protect £142 Anyone out there know how many cars are stolen & never recovered or totally written off.In other words is it just another way of extracting extra cash out of you :S

buy it on line its always cheaper somewhere like Click4gap :)

Like any insurance its only 'worth it' if you need to put in a claim.

You'd be mad not to get it on a new car to be honest -especially if you have taken out finance  Gives peace of mind that you won't lose out financially if things go wrong. Can't think of much worse than say having the car nicked and the insurance payout doesn't cover the cost of paying back the finance company so you end up with no motor and saddled with a large debt...... not cool at all.

I've got a 8 month old renault trafic van which I didn't take gap ins out on now stating to worry I've cocked up :'(

Check back with Skoda too.

VW quoted me £499 for £25k 3 year cover for my Passat. I said I'd think about it.

Found similar cover for £220 online, told VW I wouldn't be taking out their gap as I'd found it online for £220 and they said straight away "We can match that".

So got VW Gap for £220 instead of £499. Also comes with a supposed Fast Track car replacement but not sure what how that works.

Cheers

Looking at how long it takes for skoda delivery fast track sounds intresting

Skodas gap insurance is return to invoice which isnt the best cover you can get, especially not if you got the car with the NO VAT offer as it will only return it to what you paid... not what the car may cost to buy when the NO VAT offer ends

Yep , thats why I went for vehicle replacement instead of return to invoice.

Again thanks Adamc260

Insurance is sadly the one thing I know a bit about! Worked in it for almost 6 years!
