Isnt the original cone paper based. The new ones are polycarbonate plastic so give a better sound - magnet size means sod all

Fair enuf

makes sense

Size of magnet dosn't matter as a smaller magnet made of a better material will sound better, and the upgades have a better cone and tweeter built in...also did you keep the OEM door tweeter wires wired in??? eg did you connect all the 4 wires at the back of the bass speaker into the upgrade speaker?? as this gives a beter "soundstage"!!! B)

Yes I did as rear door tweeters wouldnt work,

but bass level isnt good enuf

What headunit are you using???

Sony mp3/usb etc 4x50w cant remember model

also got front FLI or JLB door speakers

but not really impressed by sound

I still have the OEM fronts and rear tweeters..fitted Pioneer replacements in rear side decks...and have a Pioneer headunit which has lots of sound adjustment..full on inc peak frequency, slope, sub out controls, bass boost etc.etc....I have to turn down the bass!!! :giggle:

are these speakers a straight replacement?? In other words do you just unplug the original rear speakers and plug in the new ones?? No extra wiring etc etc.

It isnt straight swap, but not much to do

u need vag speakers wires adaptor to plug and play 2,50 on ebay or just play with cables

Yep

The main problem with the rear speakers is that they're only 4" in diameter, and you can't fit larger ones in the same spot where the original speakers are (seat belt roller is in the way). Bought a 2-way speaker set for both front and back, and they came with 6.5" mids, had to install them elsewhere :I

Anyway, bass is much better now in the mid-range sounds compared to the cardboard originals (have a 12" sub for low bass).
