Featured Replies

As the title says, i had two coil packs replaced under the skoda recall. I was getting the 17705 fault so i did a pressure test today and it was leaking from the small hose on top of the DV so i fixed that. I thought i would take it for a run and see if it had worked, whilst driving the engine light started flashing so i pulled over, turned of the engine and then restartedit and the light had gone. When i got back i plugged it into vagcom and got this:

16686 is cylinder 2 which has a brand new "D" version and 16687 has an "R"

Why would i get fault code on number 2 if its brand new?

The 17705 code has now gone but its still boosting funny 3000 rpm upwards, what could this be, N75, MAF etc?

I'd suggest taking it back

Have a look at your coil pack loom,

See if it now has cracks on it,this is what i got when i changed my packs and by moving the loom about the wires cracked from old age and started getting the same thing as you.

Had to change the loom out.

its a bit dark to look now, but if they have cracked the loom is it down to them to fix it?

Probably not. They do deteriorate with age.

Try putting the new coilpack in a different cylidner and see if the fault moves. If it stays on cylinder 2, the wiring or spark plug is at fault.
