mot time in june

Featured Replies

i will be using the superb for the first time since i bought it in early feb !!

since then i have done the plenum chamber

unblocked all the bungs

and repaired all the green wiring under the underlay and erased all the fault codes

dried out all the carpets

water still getting in !!!!

removed all the door cards and resealed all the boltable silver panels, that all is bolted to inside the doors (i spent ages looking for these leaks )

adjusted the door cables

de glazed the discs and greased up all the brake pads where they slide

and general check over, all serviced (mayor) and all belts done,

but i noticed two pin sized holes in both outer cvs, these will probably fail the mot,so what else could be on the way??

what are the Achilles heel of these cars/ what else to look out for??

they are quite heavy so there must be some week areas

its 05 130tdi elegance manual, 120k on the clock and looks good, and drove well when i drove it back, might have noisy front wheel bearings but not to sure it may be those big tyres and alloys on it /road noise, is that normal?

cheers everyone

I believe the track control arms (front lower rear) are a common mot fail! Mine needs both doing at 113k!! All of the arms on the front have ball joints so can be problematic! reasonably cheap fix though!!

Tom

Pin holes don't fail, splits do, most likely the large clamp clip is cutting in if the crimp has been done squew whif, I would think you are hearing the normal VAG tyre drone also, lift a wheel and spin it, you'll hear it if it's a dry bearing, and use GSF for spares, or VW if you have to, Skoda stock next to nothing for the car.
