red wrapped front grill

Featured Replies

quite fancy colour coding my front grill and understand wrapping is quicker, Easier and cheaper than spraying!!

however doesn't anyone have any decent close up pictures of a red wrapped front grill, because I'm worried it wouldn't be a goo enough colour match, and drive me nuts in the wrong colour!!

please help..

thanks.

Don't be tight only costs about £15 to do it yourself

I can't spray for ****e!!

its easy bud short bursts of the can dont hold it on approx 6 to 8 inches away and keep the can moving in a left to right motion practice on something first its really a doddle :)

getting a good colour match especially in red with a wrap will be damn difficult

Do folk normally paint their grilles with aerosol? I once painted a VW grill badge black, from an aerosol, primer/laquer the lot. After a few weeks, it looked awful due to dozens of stone chips. Not a good look!

I wrapped my grill, was a pain in the arse though and I ended up doing it in 3 sections, although you can't notice until you get really close.

I wrapped it as I didn't want it to be permanent if I want to sell or fancy a change. You can get coloured vinyl from ebay for cheap, give it a go, if you don't like it, it'll come straight off; no harm done.

if im honest, black is a easier shade to match.. then red, but top marks it does look good.

My opinion is if your gonna wrap it. Don't try colour match on a red car do a black grille. But if your wanting red I think your only option of getting a good colour match is paint it using paint from halfords

Pop it off and give it to me, I'll spray it up for you.

Your having it fitted? Fit the thing yourself nothing better than that feel of satisfaction when you do something your self rather than pay somebody to do it. Just my opinion

I am fitting it myself but at my mates garage with his help and use of his lift and tools.. the the use of the word having it fitted was a loose term!! haha.

No worries mate, pop over sometime and I'll take it off, I can refit it all minus the chrome and then pop that in when it's done.

Glad your happy with the finished result Russ, turned out pretty good I think.

The process involved, after a good roughing up with 240 grit wet and dry

Etch primer

Filler primer to take out a few chips in the chrome covering

That's flatted back with wet 1500 then white primer

Which was then flatted back with wet 1500 and first hit of Corrida red

Second coat of Corrida red then flatted back with wet 2500 and hit with a couple of coats of lacquer

Good match! Top work

i wrapped mine in that carbon 3m stuff and must admit it was a real pain in the ass to get it right, spraying would have been easier
