Jaguar X-Type 2.0D

Featured Replies

Went for a test drive in one of these today as a friend is thinking about opting out of his company car scheme (goodbye nasty 02 Astra 1.7 DTi and hello something nice).

Can't believe we had to go out in the salesman's filthy (inside and out) car.

Seemed pretty nice to drive; quiet and a fair amount of go to it but the seats seemed uncomfortable and the steering was way too light for my tastes.

Came away feeling totally underwhelmed and rather disappointed, especially after being so impressed with a hired XJ8 a couple of years ago.

Next stop Audi A3, Volvo S40 and maybe a Golf.

Don't think I'll be able to get him to even look at an Octy though :(

He might as well have tested a Mondeo diesel -they're pretty much the same car, and a darn site cheaper!

Having said that, I'm surprised at the dealer -Jag dealers are normally pretty good........

I think the badge was more appealling than the blue oval... :)
