Biodiesel

Featured Replies

Hi all, thinking of getting a 2001 fabia 1.9 TDi 100PS as a second car which i believe has an ATD engine.

Can these be safely ran on biodiesel? I have seen conflicting stories and cannot track down a definitive answer.

Thanks in advance

I think the ATD is still a PD engine which is not recommended for running with biodiesel (other than what's mixed in on forecourt diesel).

The saving per litre isn't high enough to justify the cost of new PD injectors should they fail due to the use of veg oil.

One of my mates has an early Octavia TDi and he's running it on pure, clean veg oil at the moment with no problems. Smells like a chipper though :giggle:

can anyone advise from personal experience?

I can get bio at 50p per litre

Yep, changed a few poorly injectors that have been clogged with bio, not a cheap fix at all.

ah

are there any fabias or octavia's that are compatible with bio that aren't as slow as a snail - engine codes would be nice :D

ASV Octavia 1 should be fine.

thanks! is that the 110hp version - any others compatible?

Yeah that's the 110 or you can get a 90bhp Octavia.

Bar SDi all Fabias are PD or CR

If u can get bio so cheap, why restrict your options to a fabia with PD? 50p a litre is too good to pass up. What about an Audi A4 tdi, 1996-2000 - non-PD.

need a cheap runaround, and currently VERY happy with my vRS.

like to have I car where I know a bit about it so I can sort any small issues before they become a problem

AHF Octavia 1 is OK - that's the earlier 110 - used in the Mk IV Golf
