Sports Cat?

Featured Replies

I'm in 2 minds at the moment as to whether or not to get a sports cat/downpipe....

How much difference does it make? At the moment I'm only getting an induction kit and a catback but how much am I gonna get from adding a sports cat/downpipe? (after a remap of course)

Also, how much difference does it make to the exhaust note :)

The OEM down pipe is a carp with poor quality and restrictive bends.

So yes defo change the down pipe and exhaust, but forget the induction kit....unless your after lots of induction roar to impress at a McDonalds car park.

haha, what can I say? I'm a sucker for the induction roar :)

The Sports downpipe will give you better gains than the cat back section and induction kit as mentioned by Bill due to the downpipe being restrictive as it is thiner and does not have smooth bends on it. Also the STD cat part is very restrictive.

All ordered :)

Can't wait to get it fitted :D

Which one did you go for?

I have a decat on mine with map to suit, just need to get the cat back section now. Goes very well since the decat went on!

ordered the Piper twin-pipe catback and the Milltek downpipe/sports cat, and a Pipercross carbon induction kit.

Got a few other bits like new droplinks and brake discs but couldn't afford the coilovers this month :(

Robbed a bank matey? lol

How much that set you back muppje?

Too much :( my bank account took a proper beating from all that! and thats before the insurance increase haha

Lol, yeah not ideal! Luckily I get discount on the bits I buy so don't have to worry as much lol

ordered the Piper twin-pipe catback

Good choice! I haven't heard another Piper exhaust in the flesh but if it sounds anything like my one (with standard CAT) then you are going to love it!

Bowders1 posted up a video of his one....

thats with a Blueflame sports cat though. This is what swayed me towards getting a Piper :D

Yep was rather good I thought to.

The fit and quality of the piper is very good, any my sports cat does make a different to the performance and sound.

I seem to have got 3 clamps with the cat-back? but can only think of 2 places to put them.....

That is corect, the third one is only used to take up the difference between downpipe and cat back depending on the systems fitted.

hmmm, took it to a garage to fit as didnt have tools to cut the original system...robbed me of £67 and its still not done properly.

The Milltek system needed slits cut into it, and the Piper catback apparentally needs to be cut down at the join to the cat because the hangers dont marry up properly.

Thought this would be a straight fit :/

also, the clamps provided with the piper are apparentally not good enough as they still allow movement, and they reckon the tailpipe itself will fly off as it only looks as if its pushed on, and not clamped at all. The 3rd clamp is not big enough to go round the tailpipe so thats not what the 3rd clamp is for.
