Fan only works on higher speeds?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Skoda Fabia 1.4mpi 2001, and my heater fan works only on higher speeds (1 and 2 not working, only speed 3 and 4). Even on higher speed, i don't get

much air, i can barely feel the air when on the highest fan speed.

Any idea what can cause this ?

btw: i have a low level on cooling fluid!

Thank you for your help guys!

Been covered dozens of times. Fan motor speed resistor faulty, and probably pollen filter blocked (which causes the resistor to overheat.) IIRC part is about £40 but it's a pig to change as half the dash needs to come out.

Low coolant warning assuming level is actually OK, is header tank sensor clean, or if later tank fitted, new tank and cap. £15 for parts.

Only the glovebox needs to come out to change it.

If the coolant level keeps dropping then check the fan switch, if now external leaks are visible then head gasket is more then likely.
