Programmable extras VRS mk2

Featured Replies

Apologies for repeating what may have already been covered.

I saw the beginnings of an interesting thread on here a couple of days ago (now can't find it again), about all the things that the dealers can programme into the car that are not standard.

Examples:

Alarm beeps , Washer fluid level light? and auto locking doors above a certain speed.

Does anyone know of anything else?

I would have thought that all of these things are genuinely useful to have, and as i am waiting for my new candy white vrs (due oct) i am already writing lists of stuff i want to ask the dealers.

I'm sure most of us waiting are just the same!

Please let me know of anything out there.........

I want all 3 of those to be programmed onto mine :) wonder if its VRS only though?

If someone can find out what can be adjusted then it maybe worth stickying this. I remeber with the Mk1 people making the steering heavier or lighter.

I've had a friendy briskodian tinker with mine :)

1) security door lock that only unlocks the drivers door disabled so everything unlocks at a click!

2) auto locking when moving off.

3) all doors unlock when key removed

it reallly bugged me that you couldn't get into the boot ect without double clicking! all sorted now :)

I had auto door lock enabled.

Probably will end up getting single press unlock enabled too, as pressing it twice to get to the boot and passenger doors is a bit annoying.

Not sure if washer level fluid alarm exists, would be very good to have. I think I read somewhere on here that this feature was omitted from the VRS, for daft reasons unknown, although I could be wrong.

I've had a look at a Mk2 vRS at the NW meet and sorted the auto-lock related bits.

Washer level warning, if going on precedent from other models would require headlamp washers, for the sensor to have been fitted to the washer bottle. It can be activated and the coding will be accepted, but you're likely to have the warning light on all the time! (tried this with my Octy2 vRS and that's what happened).

I documented what I found at the time, so I'll post back anything else I've missed once I've checked my laptop at home.

Oh and something worth noting is to make sure you've got the latest possible version of VCDS. I saw that some modules were accessible on 10.6.4 at the meet last month, that weren't on 10.6.3 when I connected to Damo's car the month before!

According to this thread the sensor is there although he doesnt mention if he has headlight washers

From the thread that i read on here before, i believe the light is already there.

Apparently it just needs activating. That just begs the question........why don't Skoda turn it on as standard?

This is why i wanted to know about all this stuff for sure, maybe we could get some kind of database of these 'extras'.

Like i said before, they seem like useful things to have.

Hi Sharkrider,

Had our dealer do exactly the same things to our vRS estate on delivery. Considered the alarm bleep but thought it would become irritating long term (particularly if locking/unlocking the car late at night or with a sleeping baby!).

I'd like to know if it is a certainty that the vRS has the sensor in the washer bottle for the fluid level warning and that it just needs to be enabled with vcds. If so i'll be popping it into the dealers at some point to have it activated! Can anyone else comment?

The 'alarm confirmation tone' isn't THAT loud :)

As with anything new, re the washer bottle it just needs someone to enable it and see what happens

Just that, as said, in my experience it's either present and already coded, or the setting doesn't work properly - but I'm prepared to be proved wrong :)

Dont get me wrong theres nothing wrong with the bleep; just think its a bit unnecessary. The indicators flash, the locks on the Fabia are very loud anyway and unlike some other VAG cars the Alarm blinker is very visible. It's not like it gives you much cause to worry about it being unlocked. Also its surprising how loud these things sound in the dead of night; i'd rather not irritate my neighbours! :-)

Something that makes me laugh with the Seat Ibiza and Leon is that the Alarm blinker is on the passenger door, clearly a LHD vehicle cost saving. Glad Skoda arent that tight!

No worries - all down to personal taste and preference at the end of the day :)

right guys since my visit to the dealer last weekend, i have had to go back and have the washer fluid warning de programed as, it was on all the time, even when the bottle wasnt empty as i filled the dam bottle.

interesting, maybe its a compatibility issue, so they disable it...

Thought as much, the vRS definitely does not have a fluid level sensor then. Something else I can forget about having done sometime, cheers tom_kvrs!

Anyone with VCDS around the central belt of Scotland fancy tinkering with mine to program some things? Would like to see how its done rather than arranging an appointment at the dealers - meet a fellow briskodian too :)

If you go into the diagnostics forum theirs a list of members who are willing to offer use of vcds

I found a very nice chap who did some bits on my polo :)

Thanks daydotz - shall have a look
