Are Scouts getting a bit common now?

Ironic thing is, I am a Scout leader. So no chance of mickey taking there then.

Good to see you have the same excellent taste as me, London Les.

Definately seen a few around Suffolk since we took delivery of Sid (yes, the wife names all our cars!).

As for hard suspension - I tend to agree if its just you driving - but it helps with handling. Not as hard as one of our cars but definately not as wallowy as our previous Jeep or the Landrover!

I should be on the road from 17/6 - ordered 23/12/10 - scout DSG :D:thumbup:

Yes it would be - but there have been examples on this forum where they've been forgotten. If you look in the arches they are fairly obvious - blue plastic I think on the springs all round. I think in hindsight, that mine rides best when its full of stuff - if can be a bit crashy when empty. Have you got a spare - I bet not having that in makes a difference.

Les.

I have now had a chance to have a look and am glad to report nothing blue in the arches.

it really is the set up when empty. i had a two hour drive in streaming rain on Sunday with car full of kids and the boot full and that's when it came into its own. It just needs a bit of weight. it was great, perfectly planted and comfortable whilst the 4x4 and Dunlops (why are people complaining?) provided plenty of grip.

I think you are right - we should perhaps add a spare wheel after all

I would agree on the Dunlops, perfectly adequate for the performance, even on a remapped car & incredibly predictable when you push hard & unstick it. Also not bad on mileage, we got 24K out of the fronts & 30 out of the rear, they are a tad pricy though when you replace them but we have gone for the same again as they have also handled last winters snow & the side of a Spanish mountail with incredible ease. It can be a bit clumpy when light & driven slowly but it rides big bumps at speed well. At the end of the day if you wanted a luxo barge then get a Superb but try throwing that up a forest track at speed

I would agree on the Dunlops, perfectly adequate for the performance.

+1

No compaints from me either, I'm on the wear bars on the fronts with 24,000 miles, maybe 1mm left on the rears.

Got a quote for four replacements for £549 fitted.

The rarer the Scout remains the better
