Bumper problem help!

Featured Replies

My front bumper is sticking out a little. Was wondering if anyone knew why this is happening or how to fix it?

Here are pictures of what I mean.

Its been nudged.. ie pushed back on the front corner either try and push it back by hand or give it a whack where its sticking out with your fist.... if that doesn't work you'll have to take the screws out where where they hold the wheel arch liner in situ(by the front wheel) that should let the bumper move freely then so you can get it back into place once back in place keep your knee against it while your putting the screws back in to hold it in place

As above. It might not go back perfectly, mine sticks out a little bit, (not as bad as that), but I have never managed to convince it go back to how it should be. I should point out it was like that when I bought my car, and I did not cause the problem :giggle:

there is also 2 ten mm bolts behind the black bump strip . the bump strip is just clipped in and a plain screw driver with a rag under neeth it to stop it markin the paint will take it off

Had the same problem, only the gap was smaller.I took out the signal and pulled the fender to outside until was alligned to the bumper.

Is perfect.

Ive tried pushing it in but I wasn't sure how much pressure it could take so I didn't hit it too hard. So if I take the bolts out of the arches I can move it around to position it better?

You could try it but if it has taken a whack from the front then aligning the back of the bumper by the wheel arch won't help, it does look like its had a tap on the front to be honest. Mine had, parked it in a car park and when i came back the black bumper strip was lying on the floor and the bumper jutting out where the bolts by the wheel arch are, unfortunately this broke the fixing plate inside the wheel arch and also dented the wing, i took the wheel arch off and straightened the wing a bit by brute force and ignorance and had to wedge the bumper under the wing to get it to stay in place.

Bodywork is a nightmare and be careful of the wing, as they have numerous lines, the one that runs down the side of the car, plus the crease for the arch and the bend from top to bottom, if you lose these lines its really a new wing job. Mines defo a new wing and bumper job but as the car's done 130k and at the moment am doing silly mileage daily its a job that has to wait whilst its still running plus its my only car so can't just take it off the road for a week to get it repaired.

Good luck

Regards Dave

Doesn't the bumper slide into the mounts on the sides?

If so the only way to fix that is going to be to remove the bumper and slide it back in from the front (oo er missus :giggle: )
